Bonaire, Netherland Antilles -- Flamingos flock and nest in the lakes at the north of Bonaire. The flamingo is born white or gray, then acquires its coloration from chemicals in the fish it eats. This accounts for the variation in colors between different individuals, with the youngest birds usually nearly completely gray or white. © Rick Collier
